Terrifying sound
The red howler monkey (Alouatta seniculus) is the loudest land animal in the world, with its calls reaching up to 140 decibels, which is equivalent to the noise level of a jet engine. The howler monkey has vocalizations that can be heard from miles away. The roars of the barbado echo in the woods and amaze those who are not used to the sounds of the forest. There are cases of novice visitors who sleep in the forest and literally panic when they hear the terrifying sound. However, the howler monkey is an innocuous being.

Red howler monkeys (Aloutta seniculus) are primarily arboreal, meaning they spend most of their time in trees, and are found in various forest habitats, including rainforests, dry forests, and savannas.
