Taxizeiros flight

Channel of taxizeiros
It’s the end of August, beginning of September, early in the month, and like every year, the taxizeiros (Triplares surinamensis) prepare to bloom. Since my photograph of the “Florida Forest” was awarded in 2005, I don’t miss the opportunity to dedicate time to this extraordinary event. This time, I managed to get a helicopter flight, which took me up and down, in search of the perfect image. It’s a search that never stops, never satisfies. And how could it?
This is the Paraná of Ariaú, a canal that joins the Solimões River and the Negro River. In the photo, the Negro River dominates and the canal empties into it, or, curiously, it can also reverse its flow and travel to the other large river. This depends on the volume of water in the two rivers. If the Solimões has more water, as it usually does, the Paraná current flows into the Negro River. But it may happen that the Rio Negro has a greater volume of water and thus the Paraná is directed in the opposite direction.
The aerial photo showed how the density of taxizeiros is concentrated much more on the edges of the Paraná and, as it moves away from the canal, it is mixed with the other trees of the forest. It’s a natural spectacle that I love and that always leaves me in search of the next perfect image.

A true heritage
The vertical aerial view of the Paraná of Ariaú confirms how unique the event is, a true natural heritage. A heritage to be cared for, included in the celebrated monuments, just like the cherry blossoms of Japan. When admiring, the light that reaches our retina, in the back of the eye, generates a feeling that belongs to the heart and remains available as an accumulated capital to be invested again for the benefit of other adventures.

The Taxizeiro Flower
In detail, the taxizeiro (Triplares surinamensis) flower has the shape of a propeller, so when it stands out it falls spinning. In school, we credit the propeller to the genius inventor, who drew it from a brilliant combination of his synapses. Just like in all other human ingenuities, this egocentric school costs to revere the inspiration of an intelligence that is in everything in nature. How could this inspiration belittle the genius inventor who managed to communicate with this intelligence? On the contrary.
