Emerald tree boa (Corallus caninus)
In the Amazon, the Corallus caninus is commonly known as araramboia, arauemboia, cobra-papagaio, jiboia-verde, periquitamboia, araboia and jiboia-arborícola-esmeralda. Like all boas, it is a constrictor (kills by suffocation), is not venomous and spends a lot of time coiled up on tree trunks while digesting its last meal. The green boa is a spectacular snake because of its emerald green color, it blends perfectly into the forest foliage and has heat-sensitive organs to detect its favorite prey such as rodents, birds, and lizards. Its attacks are quick and accurate, but on the other hand, it is a relatively calm snake, and unfortunately, this makes it highly sought after for captive breeding as a pet. The photo was taken with flash in a research area in Belém do Pará, but the snake did not show any minimum discomfort.

Snakes have beauty
A person not used to the Amazonian forest environment, easily, upon seeing this type of photo, lets themselves be carried away by a vision of extreme danger: snakes of all kinds, spiders, monstrous animals, moving stealthily in the understory. If you, dear reader, have this type of feeling, allow me to observe that this recalls the terroristic sets of Hollywood cinema heavily founded on gratuitous and unfounded sensationalism.
For sure, voluntarily making an effort to perceive the misinformation that have been broadcast for purely commercial purposes can provide great progress and individual improvement. The discovery and conscious cleansing of this cultural trash that the North American industry has unloaded into the innocent minds of children and adults all over the world, this desire for liberation is an important step in environmental education and the reestablishment of a healthy relationship with nature.
I can guarantee from my personal experience that a simple walk in the Amazon forest, accompanied by a specialized guide, can contribute to new, more realistic and much more rewarding visions. The main of these visions, indispensable, is the awareness of being part of this loving mother that is the nature of the planet Earth.
