Shaman of fire

Shaman of fire
The marked steps of the shaman’s dance vibrates across the floor, the powerful waves of many drums compress and expand every molecule of the air. boom! boom! boom! The ancestral ritual echoes from distant times, with ghostly plots, supernatural lights and incantations. The shaman penetrates the invisible world by manipulating the subtle vibrations of matter. It is a creative consciousness that transcends the individual and penetrates into hyper-connected, multi-dimensional networks of seething energy, where everything is possible, everything is available at the same moment, absolute databases are accessed instantly, directly, without intermediaries charging a fee. The shaman is here, he is there, he is everywhere, and so am I!
Produced at the Parintins Folkloric Festival, the photographic technique of the shaman allegorical representation was performed with a flash mounted on the camera and synchronized on the second shutter curtain, creating the mouvement effect. Then like flames they bind the enchanted being, burning the dense vibrations that tie humanity to the merely three dimensional world. Our supposed reality, ephemeral and illusory, monotonously linear, crumbles in the kaleidoscope of lights that emerge from another world…

Spiritual leader
The shaman is the spiritual leader of the indigenous tribes; maximum authority; connoisseur of the mystical enchantments used to expel evil spirits (songs, rituals, medicines prepared with herbs, roots, seeds, etc.); a mix of priest, doctor, healer and sorcerer. Responsible for the introduction of some drugs in the modern pharmacopoeia. Able to manipulate poisons, narcotics, sedatives and stimulants. At the Parintins Festival, during the evolution of Bumbá, the Pajé is the Indigenous sorcerer, one of the most important figures in the performance – a central figure in the ox ritual – who, through pajelança, a set of dances and invocation of spirits, finds the recipe for healing.
