Encyclia vespa, an angel
An orchid with open arms, wings and even aureola, a protective angel of nature. I ask myself, again I ask myself, I always ask myself: who was the artist who designed you? How can you express so clearly an abstract idea? How can I reproduce this idea?
When these mysterious beings appear in my path, I always ask myself: who is this creature? Where does she come from? I know that there is a genetic code, I don’t know much, the complexity is beyond my understanding and I just know that it can’t be just that. The image is just a symbolic representation, and I know the apprehension that accompanies me in the search for a result that demands fidelity to the character. I just shined my flash over the top. I should praise the crown.
In those analog days, the flash was connected to the camera by a cable. Thus, especially in macro photography, one hand held the camera and the other the flash, positioning the latter for dramatic effect lighting.
Just as that being of light appeared in my thought, so from that place, the photographer’s experience completed the picture, synthesizing a primordial vision, building it through the communicative power of the art of light.
I’m stuttering when signing the authorship of the image.
The signature of a Great Architect superimposes the small stroke of my pen, so that, by publishing the photograph, I am aware of only being the messenger of a greater, marvelously perfect art.

Mental screen
It’s always a flash connected with a cable to the camera, but in an extreme position. More mystery. More attention on the crown of the angelic figure (Encyclia vespa). It’s a technique I like to use, as the light from the flash and its position allow you to shape the subject under study. Imagine the camera and the angel united by an invisible line on one side, imagine the flash and the angel united by an invisible line on the other side, these two invisible lines and the variation of the angle they form, are the brush that paints the protagonist. In the old days, at the time of the film, it was necessary to imagine all this on the mental screen. Now it’s easy, just position the lines in the desired effect, shoot and look at the result. It’s not funny?
However, I like digital a lot, it gives me a sense of freedom, I don’t depend on a chemistry or a laboratory to develop the film. I would hardly go back to analogue, despite having been a magnificent experience. But I like to know the result, soon. What I don’t want to sacrifice is the mental screen, there’s the value, for me, greater than the camera screen.

The Angel’s Costume (Encyclia vespa)
Almost frontal light, this almost is very important. If the flash light and the focal plane are on the same line, the photo has no depth, as when using the camera’s built-in flash. Misaligning as much as necessary already creates a more pleasant effect. However, we know that the ‘rules’ of photography are very relative and, sometimes, the subject becomes more interesting in the transgression of academic norms. The angel’s costume now reveals its details and the crown has another design, another meaning.

A bunch of angels (Encyclia vespa)
Photographed on Lake Bim, during flooding, we leaned the canoeThe canoe is a small boat, narrow and light, and daringly close to the waterline. With both sharp ends, it is operated by a wooden oar, but in the absence of an oar, the riverine can uses any piece of wood or even a branch. It is considered the most used means of transport by riverside and indigenous people in the rivers of the Amazon. More against the tree and I climbed the first fork without ropes. The shot was taken in broad daylight, but the completely closed aperture and the localized flash lighting almost completely darken the background of the image. It is possible to notice the light spots of leaves in the brighter forest.
